The Boss to perform at Barack Obama's Inauguration
Bruce Springsteen has announced that he will be performing during President Barack Obama's Inauguration Week Welcome planned for the week around the inauguration on January 20, 2009. Elvis Costello and Sting will also be performing. Jay Z has also announced the he will perform at a celebration party on the eve of the inauguration. With that announcement, Jay Z Obama concert tickets have been selling like mad.
“Senator Obama, in my view, is head and shoulders above the rest. He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next President,” Springsteen said in his endorsement letter to fans in April 2008. “He speaks to the America I’ve envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that’s interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit.”
The Boss will also conduct a free concert at Washington's National Mall on January 18. According to The Washington Post, the show will be free and open to the public.
